Many of us dream of all-out luxury vacations, staying in top-drawer hotels, travelling in first class, and having the red carpet rolled out for us on arrival. Sadly for the majority of us, this will never be the case, the good news is that you can still sprinkle some luxury on your next vacation and it doesn’t have to cost you the earth whilst still giving you the feeling that you are someone special. Here’s some great ways to add that little touch of class to your next vacation.
Don’t be Shy
Upgrades may not be incredible simple to come by but they are out there as long as you don’t mind a bit if sweet-talking and more importantly, that you ask the question. When you are checking in for your flight make sure you ask the question as to whether any upgrades are available, it isn’t rare that you get bumped up a class or two either for free or for a fraction of the cost. The same thing goes at the hotel when you arrive, remember if they so no then you’ve lost absolutely nothing, if they say yes then you win everything. The keys here are to be kind and friendly to to the member of staff, rude and ignorant means you’ll end up empty handed.
Transfer in Style
One relatively inexpensive way of feeling a bit special at the beginning of your vacation is to hire a private driver service for your airport transfer. Not only is this a more reliable option than flagging down an airport taxi or sitting on a bus that takes you around the World before your location but it is a personal service that makes you feel special. I used Blacklane recently on a trip to Europe and can’t recommend them enough, a text message when I left the flight and a smiley driver waiting for me at arrivals who led me to a beautiful black Mercedes to take me in style to my hotel. The price is great for such a service as well so definitely check them out.
The Big Night Out
When I vacation I struggle to justify spending money every single night on a fancy meal, of course I still eat out a lot but I try to tone down my spends when I’m away on food. After a week of being cautious with my money I like to go crazy on the final night with a top class meal at the best restaurant in town. I very often plan this beforehand and find the restaurant that I want to eat in to end my vacation in true luxury. If the choice is to spend $500 throughout the week on meals, I’d far rather spend $250 on 6 nights and the remaining $250 on my final blow-out meal. It’s a great strategy in my opinion to feel very special at the end of your vacation.
Luxury for me is about doing something that makes me feel special, relaxed and to be surrounded by beauty. Something I often try to do, especially on a beach or sunshine holiday is to do some research online before I go to find a secluded location. Once I find it, whether it be an area of a park or a little piece of untouched beach, I love to take my loved ones there with a picnic in tow and just enjoy each-others company in a blissful location, a World away from our normal lives. A picnic doesn’t have to cost the earth and a little bit of preparation will save you some cash too, this is truly about the thought counting, furthermore it serves as a perfect injection of luxury to your vacation.
